WE Rock Roughs Up Champs Who Still Claim a Podium Finish
Goldendale, Washington, – (July
25, 2006) Trekking north to the Washington-Canadian
border for round three of the five-round W.E. Rock National
Series competition, On Track Krawler Team faced some
of the most challenging course conditions seen so far
this season.
The Goldendale competition area was
a heavily forested location with a mixture of boulders,
trees and soft dirt. The combination of Mother Nature’s
elements was not an issue during Saturday’s competition,
where the duo of Dean Bulloch (driver) and Karl Munford
(spotter) worked their magic in the Suzuki Samurai named,
“ZUK.”
However, Sunday’s unexpected challenge
sidelined the team at every turn.
Dean explained, “During Saturday’s
obstacles, we picked our way through the obstacles and
got out in front. However, Sunday turned into a nightmare
on the first obstacle. Assigned to our group of competitors
was a sportsman rig that had 44-inch Mud Boggers. He
ran in the position directly in front of us and churned
up huge holes in the soft dirt and knock rocks as big
as the “ZUK” from their perch locations.
He just destroyed the obstacle before we even had a
chance to get in the dirt. After the first couple obstacles,
we dropped so many points we didn’t have a chance
to recover and he was still digging big holes. We’ll
be back for the next W.E. Rock event in Lake Tahoe …
ready to win.”
Finishing in third place behind winner,
Jeff Mello and second place finisher, Brian Errea, the
top three spots are all sponsored by BFGoodrich Tires.
“Difficult circumstances are sometimes
trying, but we made the best of it and got out of Washington
with a podium finish,” commented spotter –
Karl Munford.
The team is headed to Rocky Mountain
Raceway in Salt Lake City, Utah for the UROC Pro-National
Series event on July 28-29, 2006.
