UROC Pro-Nationals Test Bulloch & Munford Strength

Salt Lake City, Utah, – (August 1, 2006) The 2005 WARN Winch Champions pulled into the Rocky Mountain Raceway located in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a goal to add hardware to their growing 2006 trophy cabinet, as well as tally up the important series points towards the 2006 UROC Pro National Championship.

The Rocky Mountain Raceway venue for the fourth UROC Pro National event was held on the manmade sprayed gunnite created by UROC CEO – Ranch Pratt in late 2004. “This venue always produces difficult obstacles and although it’s manmade, the surface changes with the wind and the rain along with elements from the competitors who run before you,” remarked spotter Karl Munford.

Facing soaring temperatures that baked the Salt Lake valley, On Track Krawler Team battled with the nation’s top drivers on Saturday, positioning them for a final charge in the last day of competition. Ready to blaze a trail, the duo hit a roadblock when the competitor in front of them broke off an oil filter during his run, littering the manmade wall with a film of greasy used oil. In fact, UROC Officials worked feverishly for over an hour to clean up the spill and restore the obstacle to a similar condition from earlier in the day.

“We got up on the rock face and began crawling the wall as we have many times previously, but this time the surface was too slick. We really needed to get up and over the wall in order to stay in the running. However, we ended up sliding off the edge because it was so slick,” commented a dejected Bulloch.

But that was only the beginning of the team’s woes. At the completion of regulation competition, they were told by UROC Officials that they were in 5th position and the Main Event would only include the top four teams. It was later discovered, however, that they were actually tied for third position at the end of the regular event. With the main event well underway for over an hour, UROC Officials placed them in 4th position in the final standings.

Team Owner Dean Bulloch commented, “It’s unfortunate that the scoring officials made that mistake. Had we been given the opportunity to compete in the main event, who knows where we would have ended up? In fact, the main event was a ‘cone fest’ and I feel we would have had a great opportunity to move up in the field.”

Despite the undeniable bad luck for On Track Krawler Team, the fourth place finish gave them enough series points to remain in the third spot and only two points out of second place series points.

“We’ll continue to run strong towards the series point’s championship,” said Karl Munford.

With three weeks off before the team heads to Lake Tahoe, California for the next event, they are prepping the “ZUK” for the last half of the season. They will soon head for the final round of the W.E. Rock National Series on the water’s edge of Lake Tahoe.
